A New Cultural Hub: Affordable Homes and the African American Signature Project in San Jose
A new mixed-use development, the African American Signature Project of Silicon Valley, is taking shape at 2001 The Alameda in San Jose. Spearheaded by the African American Community Service Agency and First Community Housing, this project will offer 150 units. With 135 affordable housing units, 12 to 15 units for sale as condominiums, community spaces, and nonprofit commercial facilities. EAH Housing has joined the initiative to develop the residential component of the center. The complex will also feature Roots Clinic and Ujima Adult & Family Services, providing health and behavioral support, making it a vital hub for the region. The Silicon Valley African American Cultural Center is looking to break ground and start the project in 2025. Leading to a possible completion date by 2027.
