Major Office-to-Residential Conversion Brings 680 New Homes to Downtown San Jose
Big changes are coming to the heart of downtown San Jose—ones that could reshape the skyline and bring hundreds of new housing opportunities to our growing city.
Jay Paul Company, a developer known for building major campuses for tech giants like Apple, Google, and Meta, has officially unveiled plans to transform parts of CityView Plaza into a vibrant mixed-use destination. The new development, called CityView, will introduce both residential and commercial spaces right in the center of downtown.
From Office Towers to Urban Living
The project will convert four existing office buildings at 100 W. San Fernando Street into residential units, with the new community dubbed The Village at CityView. In addition to these converted homes, Jay Paul plans to build The Tower at CityView, a new 27-story residential high-rise. Together, the two projects will bring 680 new residences to the area, ranging from studios to three-bedroom layouts.
Here’s what future residents can look forward to:
The Village: 320 thoughtfully redesigned units with upgraded infrastructure (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems), plus shared green spaces, a rooftop pool, and a modern fitness center.
The Tower: 360 luxury apartments, including spacious penthouses, paired with elevated amenities like rooftop lounges, outdoor terraces, and secure on-site parking.
A Walkable, Livable Downtown
CityView will also feature a retail and restaurant plaza and a 204,000-square-foot Class A office tower, adding energy and foot traffic to the neighborhood. Positioned near the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts and Adobe's global headquarters, this development is designed to create a live-work-play environment just steps from culture, commerce, and public transit.
This transformation is part of a broader shift we’re seeing downtown—older office properties being reimagined to meet the region's housing needs while creating more dynamic, walkable communities.
We’ll be keeping an eye on this project as it progresses, and we’re excited to see how developments like CityView continue to reshape the future of downtown living in San Jose.
